Privacy Policy

Metibuy (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a marketplace connecting buyers and verified sellers across Ghana. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use metibuy.shop, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

By creating an account or placing an order you agree to the practices described here.

We collect three kinds of information:

• Account data — name, email, phone number, password (hashed), profile photo, and saved addresses.
• Transaction data — orders, items bought, shipping addresses, payment method (we never store full card numbers), refunds, and disputes.
• Usage data — pages viewed, clicks, device type, IP address, and approximate location to keep the platform secure and improve it.

We use the data we collect to:

• Process your orders and send delivery updates.
• Verify your identity and prevent fraud or abuse.
• Provide customer support and respond to disputes.
• Personalise what you see in the feed and search results.
• Send transactional emails and SMS (you can opt out of marketing ones).

We never sell your personal information to third parties.

When you place an order, the seller receives your name, shipping address, and phone number so they can fulfil and deliver it. They are bound by our seller agreement to use this information only for the order.

We also share limited data with payment processors (mobile money operators, card networks) and delivery partners. Their handling of your data is covered by their own privacy policies.

We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your cart, and understand how the site is used. See our Cookie Policy for details and how to control them.

We retain account data while your account is active. After deletion, transaction records are kept for up to seven years to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations. Marketing preferences and analytics data are removed within 90 days of deletion.

You can at any time:

• Access and download a copy of your data.
• Correct anything that's wrong from your account settings.
• Delete your account and the data tied to it.
• Object to marketing communications.

Email privacy@metibuy.shop to exercise any of these. We respond within 30 days.

Connections to metibuy.shop are encrypted with TLS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to internal systems is gated by SSO and audited. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to reduce risk and notify users promptly in the event of a breach.

We'll update this page when our practices change. Material changes are announced by email and a banner on the site at least 14 days before they take effect.
